Final Expense Insurance

Final expense insurance is a policy used to pay for burial expenses and funeral services when the insured individual dies. These policies can help ease the financial burden a family may experience when a loved one dies.

Cost:

A wide number of factors can affect premiums, including your age, health status, and coverage amount. In general:

  • Burial premiums are fixed, which means they remain the same even if your health deteriorates.
  • Coverage amount can range from a few thousand dollars to around $25,000, depending on the plan.
  • Premiums are generally lower if you are younger when the insurance is purchased, and premiums tend to increase over the age of 60.

Coverage:

As with cost, you have a wide range of benefit choices available. In general:

  • Coverage can include the casket, funeral service, visitation/view, hearse, digging and filling of the grave, the cemetery plot, burial vault or grave liner, minister, headstone, flowers, and other directly related expenses.
  • Usually available up until the age of 100 of the insured.
